Another submission for Darkstalkers character design contest.
I read up on the Mapinguari, and it was first described as having Caiman skin, but hair on top of that. I felt like having SOME hair but the majority of his skin being alligator he becomes less of a "large sloth" and maybe a bit more of a hybrid and visually more interesting. It also helps distinguish him visually from Sasquatch. The text I submitted with the entry is as follows:
Character Name: Mapinguari or Isnashi
Monster Type: Mapinguari
Fighting Style: Fusion or Chain Grappler
Appearance: The Mapinguari (also called the Isnashi) is the Brazilian version of Sasquatch. It is a one eyed giant sloth monster with caiman alligator skin and a secondary mouth in it's stomach. My rendition has tufts of the on the back of it's arms and legs, and the mouth in its stomach is inspired by the protruding mouth of the goblin shark or H.R. Gieger's Xenomorph.
Additional Info: (See attached image) The Mapinguari employs a fighting style similar to Abel: utilizing strikes that lead into grabs, which may in turn lead to additional grabs. The majority of his moves begin with shooting out his secondary stomach, and chain from that hit confirm into throws that keep your opponent near you or chew him up and spit him to the opposite side of the screen. He also has a very quick command grab, and a shoulder tackle that can lead into rekka style slashes with his large claws. His transformation attacks are moderate when compared to other characters, with his crouching heavy attack using his stomach to launch him upwards like a cannonball for an anti air. His extra mouth may also spin around to simulate a saw or grinder, jackhammer or other such construction equipment.
His stage is a Brazilian forest which is being leveled by construction equipment, but said equipment has been destroyed by him and animals and other Mapinguari have taken residence inside them.
